1.1 - Design review and approval

1.1.1

Scandic requires, unless expressly agreed by them beforehand, the use of qualified architects, interior designers and other facility consultants to ensure quality at cost appropriate to the marketplace. Prior to commencing any works onsite all documents and drawings describing any proposed new construction, refurbishment and/or hotel alterations must be provided to, and agreed by, Scandic. The information submitted for approval must include:

1.1.2

Copies of all as built drawings (survey drawings) of existing hotels, buildings or structures, as applicable.

1.1.3

Preliminary design documents showing the proposed scheme, concept, structure, finishes, colours and furnishings selected for all areas to be constructed, refurbished or altered.

1.1.4

A written description of the proposed design, together with the food and beverage concept, when appropriate.

1.1.5

A letter from the architect, engineer, designer, licensed systems installer or other appropriate consultant certifying that the work, when completed, will satisfy Scandic Standards and legal requirements and/or the requirements of the local regulatory authorities, which ever is more onerous. Should the proposed construction or alternation be in an area not regulated by building codes, Scandic is to be informed to which codes the work will be constructed.

1.1.6

Scandic will review and advise on the acceptability of the proposed design. Further assistance with the implementation of these works is available and a charge may be levied for this service.

1.1.7

After construction/refurbishment and/or hotel alterations are completed, Scandic requires submission of Certified Opening Certificates.

1.1.8

Scandic reserves the right to request individual specifications over and above those referred to in this document

1.1.9

For refurbishment works (including any works associated with hotel conversions), new design schemes are to follow as closely as possible the designs and standards laid down in the Scandic new-build Design & Specification Manual.
